Rev. Bowdler is away and this morning we welcome to our pulpit Dr. Joe Martin. Dr. Martin was professor of Christian Ministries at Belhaven University from 1990 to 2017, teaching classes in Bible and Missions. Since retirement in 2017, he continues to teach at Belhaven as an adjunct instructor.
Before coming to Belhaven, he and his wife, Helen, were missionaries in Brazil from 1965 through 1989. There they were involved in pioneer church planting for a few years, and then spent 19 years on the faculty of the Edward Lane Bible Institute, preparing Brazilians for ministry and missions. The Martins have three children, all born in Brazil, and five grandchildren. Joe and Helen live in Jackson, Mississippi
